I’m Rajul Shah, a blogger and garden designer, living in Norwich. I am small and I love to garden. My garden is wildlife-friendly, with natural play areas where the children can hide and explore, a fruit and vegetable patch, spaces for relaxing and eating, borders full of lovely plants and a tiny ~~pony~~ pond.

Plants have been going in at this project that I’ve been working on for 2 years now. The hard landscaping is in its final stages. It’s wonderful seeing the design becoming reality. But there’s still more time needed to for the plants to settle in and fill their spaces. I hope to be involved in this project for even more time, especially since my clients are truly lovely to work with. It’s important to remember that projects on this scale need time to ensure quality of ideas and execution, and that instant tv style makeovers are poor reflections of reality.

We had glorious sunshine for our visit to @suetownsendgardendesign with the garden design diploma students from @norfolkschoolofgardening. Sue showed us around a beautiful garden she’s designed and talked through the planting scheme, and we were warmly welcomed by her lovely client. Then we toured her own garden which is filled with atmosphere, treasures and fascinating design experiments and ideas. Thoughtful discussions around sustainability, light touch design and the future of garden design followed in this remarkable setting.
